The Bali Hotspot list

This is the list everybody has been waiting for! Bali is my favorite island, probably the one of many, but Bali makes me feel humble and grateful every time I visit again. After these few times of visiting it was about time to make a list for all of you for some great recommendations food wise! It won't be only health food, but also Warungs, because you can't go to Bali to not eat Indonesian food! Indonesian food is my favorite food, so it's hard for me to pick somewhere to eat, there is too much choice, you'll find out:


Seminyak:

Shelter Cafe

When I was on holidays in Bali this time with my friend we went to Shelter cafe the very last day for some brunch. To enter the restaurant you have to go upstairs and you land in this beautiful restaurant full with plants and woodwork. their menu is amazing and you can also order smoothie bowls from the restaurant underneath: Nalu Bowls.

Nalu Bowls

Nalu bowls has four locations in Bali,but also in Portugal and Jakarta. I took the pipeline smoothie bowl which tasted like a frozen piña colada. It was a fresh blend of banana, pineapple, mango, coconut, coconut milk and coconut water. Topped off with some super crunchy granola coconut chips and fresh banana slices ánd last but not least I got some extra house made Peanut butter on the side with it!

Warung Ladhu

Warung Ladhu was literally a 3 minute walk from our Hotel.We weren't feeling to walk far for our food and we wanted Indonesian. we walked out the hotel, saw this spot, sat down, and ordered a bunch of things. Best decision ever, because it was so cheap! It's like one of these Indonesian eateries which serve everything: Western, Italian, Indonesia, but honestly as easy and cheap as it can be it was tasty, and that's what counts!

Jungle toppings

Jungle toppings is this cute tiny place where you can get smoothie bowls, toast or smoothies with a good cup of coffee in Seminyak. They have a cute little terrace where you can watch other tourist passing by. Their wallpaper is the best you will ever see, just like their pink painted wall on the other side of the street.

Clean Canteen

Clean canteen is this easy going restaurant which serves literally every kind of food, what everybody likes. Start with coconuts and smoothies and end with burgers, salads, pizza’s etc. Literally everything you need! Their motto: “we don’t want to make you all supermodels. Just a little bit healthier and happier!”. And that's everything what counts!

Cafe Organic

Cafe Organic is known for their beautiful smoothie bowls served in coconuts. Not only this, but they have the biggest menu I have ever seen in my life, and it will take you forever to make a decision. To come here with your friends would be perfect, so you can share all the love!

Potatohead Beachclub

You know those days, you just want to lay down on the beach or at the pool, with some nice music on the background. Than Potatohead Beachclub is your must go in Seminyak. Potatohead serves fresh coconuts, cocktails and juices and they have a special pool menu with burgers, salads and little appetizers. If you're not really feeling this food they have three different restaurants around: KAUM, which serves traditional Indonesian food, Pizza garden, well as the name says you can get here some house made pizza's and the newly opened Ijen The first restaurant in Indonesia to follow a zero-waste philosophy.

KYND Community

KYND Community is definitely my favorite restaurant on the island. Serving up everything what I love to eat on one menu, like waffles, pancakes, smoothie bowls and salads. They recently opened up a new dining area next to their old restaurant, since that was way too small. The old restaurant transformed in a little KYND ice cream shop where they sell their own branded KYND clothing.

Coffee Cartel

So you are in this kind of holidays to get shit done? Like I was for a little in April. Than Coffee Cartel is a very nice spot to sit down at and chill, work on your laptop and drink a fresh pressed juice, coffee and have some clean Australian food coming through!

Canggu:

Peloton Supershop

Peloton Supershop is based near by Splash Waterpark, so if you can't find any good food in the park you walk out for some good portion of plant based food at Peloton. Peloton has a huge menu card with all different kinds of food, so you can't go wrong with that. They serve you breakfast, lunch, dinner and bicycles, because next to a plant based cafe they're also a bicycle store.

Secret Spot

As Secret Spot already says by the name, they have a little secret rooftop where you can have your meal at. Serving us all plant based goodies for breakfast, lunch and dinner makes this a good idea to come by. They also serve plant based soft serve, which is definitely a must with this super hot weather in Bali!

Betelnut

Betelnut is based on one of the roads in Canggu which leads to the beach. They have a little spot downstairs where you can sit in the AC, or you walk up the stairs where they have a rooftop terrace where you can see the beautiful sunset at. Betelnut serves literally every type of food, but honestly, when your in Bali Indonesian food is the best to have!

Lifescrate

Lifescrate is a cafe and concept store in Canggu. They're based on a less busy street in the middle of the rice terraces, The view is gorgeous and it ain't too busy with traffic on this road. When traveling with your doggie, dogs are allowed! They have an insane amount of smoothie bowls, chia puddings, salads, toasts, smoothies etc!

MOTION Cafe

When I came to Bali again all my friends had been recommending me MOTION cafe, Why? Well I tell you, are you a fan of sweet potatoes and actually a big pancake/waffle lover like me? Well the match was made in heaven and came straight to earth at MOTION cafe. The gods listened to my prayer and came with the most amazing sweet potato waffles you can ever have!

Warung Dandelion

When my friend and I couldn't really decide where to eat we kept on walking and found Warung Dandelion. At night there's not a lot around, but when we walked in it was so crowded and there was this immediate warm and homecoming feeling. the service was so sweet and everything got done with one huge big smile on everyones face!

Ulekan

Ulekan is this Indonesian restaurant which serves lunch and dinner, and I tell you:if you want to make sure you have a spot, make a reservation, because it's full, like really full. In the evening they also have Balinese dance performances while eating. If you love sharing food and want to have an uptime Bali food experience, than you definitely should pay a visit to Ulekan.

Ubud:

Moksa

At MOKSA it`s all about enjoyment. Well I tell you when you getting your food served you are not only enjoying your eyes, but also your taste buds! At Moksa they have every Saturday a local farmers market and they own their own Permaculture garden where they grow their own fruits and vegetables. Thinking about cooking classes, at Moksa you can learn how to cook raw vegan food!

Alchemy

In the mornings at Alchemy they have a DIY smoothie bowl bar and in the middays and evenings you can make your own salad bowls. Next to this they have the biggest juice menu you'll probably ever see. Alchemy also has a little shop where you can buy organic and fair trade products.

Zest Ubud

Zest Ubud is based on a hill where you can watch over the Campuhan ridge walk. The restaurant is gorgeous build around one big tree which is in the centre of the restaurant. Zest serves you 100% plant based and season food. When I was there the mango's weren't in season so they asked with what other food they could change it instead of leaving it!

Sari Organik

Sari Organik has two locations, but the better location is based in the middle of the ricefields the walk there is on a tiny pathway where a lot of motorcycles will cross you, but only the walk is already worth it. No noises and no car traffic, just some frogs and insects making sounds and some peaceful locals who are working on the land.

The Seeds Of Life

At The seeds of life you can sit down for some delicious raw pies, raw breakfast, lunch or dinner or sign yourself up for some raw cooking classes. The seeds of life is not only a restaurant, but you can also practice yoga here!

Warung Biah Biah

Warung Biah Biah is this very famous Indonesian cuisine restaurant right in the city centre of Ubud. You can order a simple nasi Goreng or get some "tapas" but than the Indonesian way. It is always crowded so if you come with a big group there probably won't be any space or come early!

Sayuri Healing Food

Sayuri gives raw food chef trainings, so you can learn how to prepare raw food in the kitchen. Next to this she obviously opened a restaurant as well where you can eat daily changing menu's, eat homemade (raw) and vegan cakes and enjoy some home brewed kombucha.

Toro Sushi

When your really not feeling the Indonesian spicy dishes anymore Toro sushi might be a perfect solution for you! it is based in the city centre of Ubud, and we really enjoyed some sushi here. And as a person who's been to Japan I can say this was good and delicious sushi!

Sanur:

Warung Coconut Tree

Warung coconut tree is a Warung in the middle of Sanur. I came here with my family and they have something for everyone from sandwiches to delicious Indonesian food. They play some raggae and have a really nice and relaxed vibe to sit down at, no pressure just eat and sit and enjoy.

Nusa Lembongan:

Ginger & Jamu

Ginger & Jamu is the one of not so many healthy hotspots on Nusa Lembongan, They kinda have the monopoly on the island. When having a beach day Ginger and Jamu is the perfect spot to chill down at since they're based on the beach.

Bali Eco Deli

Bali Eco deli is a zero plastic waste restaurant, the very first one on Nusa Lembongan. You can refill your bottles here with mineral water, bút when you come with a plastic bottle you got to pay extra money, because they hate plastic.

Warung Bambu

Warung Bambu is this Warung on Nusa Lembongan with super fresh fish literally just catched from the sea. Don't expect anything fancy, but plastic chairs. After telling you this you'll be like: why did you go here? Well actually we went three times, because the food is amazing! All typical Indonesian dishes (also Western), but they have so many choices and it is really really cheap!
