10X Healthy Hotspots in NYC

Updated: Oct 28, 2019

The country of Burgers, fries and hotdogs, do they even know what a salad is? Well hell yes, New York City is exploding with healthy food restaurants and it seems like there's a never ending story to it.... Here I created a short list with restaurants you can't miss out on while living, having vacation or studying in the Big Apple.

Jajaja

Jajaja just opened it’s doors in 2017 and is a vegan new bee in the big city, but it is already well known under all New Yorkers. Their first location is on East Broadway in Chinatown and they opened up another pop up in Brooklyn and from what I’ve heared they’re opening up another location in Manhattan soon! What is New York without Mexican food right!?

Healthy stars: 4/5

Menu: GF, Vegan

Recommendation: Empanada

Charley St

Next to their amazing coffees, super cute toilet wallpaper and Australian accents, serves Charley St. those delicious veggie bowls filled with veggies, grains and proteins. The whole menu is created by chef Dan Churchill who wants to focus on locally sourced ingredients and colorful food. The more color you have, the more flavor and nutrition you get, this is the most important thing at Charley St.

Recommendation: Tahini time

The Butchers Daughter

Who is the Butchers daughter would a lot of us think? Well here is the answer: Heather Tierney. Heather was always passionated about health food and juices, so she got inspired after coming up with ideas for exotic cocktails for Apothéke, her cocktail bar in New York’s Chinatown. When she opened her first location she knew the menu had to have one staple item - the best avocado toast in the city.

Le Botaniste

Le Botaniste was one of my first healthy spots I went to when I got in New York for the very first time, and I’ve been a big fan since day one. Their food is so pure and it’s all organic and botanical. They care about the planet and our health, and that’s what counts.

Seamores

The most amazing freshest fish I’ve ever had in New York was at Seamores for sure. The vibe of the restaurant reminded me a lot of home, since I live on the coast side. The reel deal is a big recommendation, you get your daily veggies, carbs, proteins and nutrition in one bowl. The bowl is satisfying and filling!

Two Hands

Two Hands is one of my favorite brunch places in Soho/Nolita. They have a second location in Tribeca which is bigger than the one in Soho. They're an Aussie inspired cafe with very good coffee and definitely focussing on being a nice spot to get a good omelet with veggies or an Acai bowl to get you through the week!
